On 15 th August 1947 Indian people celebrated their first Independence Day. This will be the 76th Independence day celebration in 2022 and also the 75th anniversary of Independence, which was named as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The celebrations for the 75th Independence Day commenced on March 12, 2021 in a 75-week countdown and it will end after a year on August 15, 2022. On the theme – ‘Nation First, Always First’,India is gearing up for the grand celebrations this year
From 1857 onwards,the struggle for India’s Independence began with the Sepoy Mutiny in Meerut. Later, the Indian National Congress and other political organizations, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, launched a countrywide independence movement in the 20th century against the British rule following almost two hundred years. On August 15, 1947 the Colonial powers were transferred to India.
India became a free country at midnight between August 14 and August 15, 1947. It was then the famous “Tryst with Destiny” speech of India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru took place. People across India are knew and reminded of the meaning and importance of this event

Polio Eradication India accounted for 60% of the world’s Polio cases In 1994. In 2014, India got the “Polio-free certificate” from the World Health Organization. The life expectancy from 32 years (1947) to 68.89 years increased after the vigilant movement to prevent Polio.
Space and Technology On 15th August 1969,The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) was founded.. India launched its first space satellite, “Aryabhata”,In 1975. In 1986 Rakesh Sharma became the first Indian Who went to Space. At present,under the Make in India programme, the best indigenous technology-based launch vehicles have been made. Through PSLV-C9, India got a world record of sending 10 satellites in orbit in a single mission. We launched satellites like Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan successfully.
Right to Education India has made Right to Education a crucial part of Indian development. Education is a fundamental right of every child, according to The Right to Education Act, 2010, providing free and compulsory elementary education to all.
Powerful Defence India strengthened its defence After independence. India launched the Atomic Energy Program, to become the first nation to do so In 1954.., India India’s first nuclear test, “Smiling Buddha” making conducted In 1974 to place its position on the list of five nuclear-powered nations. Today, India has the largest volunteer army in the world,and it is the 2nd largest military force.
Gender Justice To promote gender equality, India has taken progressive steps. It has tried to discourage social evils through the Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 and to eliminate gender bias in the country, the government implemented programs like Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao.
India has come a long way since Independence.Iit has several achievements to its credit. India has built a modern economy (second fastest growing economy) with remaining democracy, it lifted millions out of poverty from the nation and it has become a space and nuclear power.
The future of India
It is our target to become the first India, A fourfold growth in 20 years. The rise of the Indian GDP reflects an even more remarkable 500% growth on PPP terms. We could see even more explosive growth in the next 40 years. Many estimates are predicting that by 2050, our GDP would range between 30 to 40 trillion USD.
