Causes

causes
destroying forest
  • Clearing of forest for agriculture activities
  • Destruction of forests for construction activities like construction of road, dams, buidings houses etc
  • For making furnitures paper etc
  • For timber production
  • Using of forest wood as fuel
  • Population size

Consequences

how to reduce
consequence
  • Loss of biodiversity
  • Destruction of natural habitat
  • Soil erosion
  • Cause climatic change
  • Increase global temperature and lead to global warming.
  • Disturbs the water cycle and decreases the ground water level
  • It reduces rainfall and affects the fertility of soil
  • Increases the chances of natural calamities
  • Deforestation ultimately leads to desertification
  • Increases carbon dioxide level in atmosphere

How to reduce deforestation

  • Reforestation – it is most efficient method to restore forest.it is the method of planting new trees in destructed forest.Planting of new trees of same species that already existed there.
  • Reduce the use of paper
  • Recycling of paper will help to reduce the use of wood pulp by paper industry
