The ‘Directorate’ is guided by the Assembly and the Assembly Council. The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross chairs the Assembly and the Assembly Council. He is assisted by a Vice President. The Directorate which is chaired by the Directorate General has five members.
Developments related to international humanitarian laws are primarily handled by the Assembly and the Assembly Council. In short, the Assembly regulates the Assembly Council and the Directorate.
